Centre of Expertise in Acoustics and Vibration
On 1 April 2024, Almacoustic took over the operations and testing facilities of the CTTM’s Acoustics and Vibrations division.
The team comprises 11 acousticians with over 30 years’ experience, and has exceptional testing and modelling facilities at its disposal to serve industry and research.
Almacoustic … experience driving innovation.
Our services
Our range of services covers the field of measurement (whether standardised or not), diagnostic studies and support for product development, and the supply of test benches and accessories for acoustics.
A wide range of training modules is also available, tailored to the specific roles within the manufacturing sector.
Standardised measurements
Our measurement facilities are designed to accommodate a range of standardised tests:
- sound power of machine noise,
- sound insulation of walls, joinery or cladding,
- sound absorption by acoustic materials,
- performance of silencers in industrial ventilation systems.
Diagnostics and development studies
Almacoustic supports manufacturers in the development of their products by carrying out assessments and studies using metrology and simulation tools.
Customised test benches
For over 20 years, we have been developing test benches and accessories for acoustic measurement, some of which have been developed through technology transfer from research laboratories to industry.
We therefore now offer a range of products, from simple microphones to instrumented and automated test benches.
Training
Almacoustic offers training modules aimed at professionals in industry – whether or not they specialise in acoustics – who wish to gain a basic understanding of acoustic measurement and analysis for their various roles. These courses cover both the fundamentals of acoustics and more specialised areas such as metrology, electroacoustics and acoustic materials, and are tailored to specific requirements.
Focus
A closer look at some examples of our key services and projects that set Almacoustic apart.
Assessment of the sound insulation performance of partitions, doors, joinery, etc., in accordance with ISO 15186-1. An intensimetric method enabling overall measurements and/or measurements broken down by zone.
Test chamber ensuring specific measurement conditions (control of the sound pressure field).
Alpha Test Chamber: measurements of the sound absorption of materials
Delta Booth: measurement of hearing protection performance in accordance with ISO 4869-3
Source localisation and sound power measurements.
Maine Flow Bench
Qualification of liners for the aerospace industry under airflow conditions up to Mach 0.6 and 150 dB. Acoustic impedance measurements up to 5000 Hz.
Performance measurements of industrial ventilation silencers in accordance with ISO 7235. Assessment of sound attenuation, pressure drop and flow-induced noise.
Integrated test bench for measuring the impedance and intrinsic properties of acoustic materials.
Our products
All the products offered by Almacoustic were originally developed in response to a specific requirement. Their development and marketing were driven by a need identified in the field of experimental acoustics.
A reverberation chamber for measuring sound absorption (Alpha Sabine), sound insulation and sound power. Available in a standard version or customised to your specifications (dimensions, shape, features, etc.).
Impedance sensor
Measurement of the acoustic impedance of objects or materials. Applications: musical instruments, dimensional inspection, sound absorption coefficient.
An instrument for measuring non-steady-state fluid flow in a pipe. Applications: measurement of instantaneous flow rate at the intake or exhaust of internal combustion engines, characterisation of highly pulsating flow rates, regulation/control of instantaneous flow rate…
Maine 3A is a software programme for predicting the acoustic properties of multilayer structures containing poroelastic materials. Featuring an intuitive graphical user interface, Maine 3A enables the structure of a multilayer to be optimised very quickly to achieve the desired performance.
1/4″ pressure-to-pressure mini-intensity probe. Applications: wall attenuation measurements, source localisation, acoustic imaging (double-layer antennas). Available in a standard version or customised to your specifications.
Manufacture of equipment capable of generating acoustic excitation for test benches (for example, for duct testing). Performance tailored to specifications (frequency range, sound level, etc.). An enclosure is available for improved acoustic insulation. Versions suitable for high pressures and high temperatures.
